Town and Country Cy-Hawk Showdown Raises $5,000 for Miracle League Project

Stan Carpenter, left, Hawkeye Club Member coach, and Leo Timms, Cyclone Club Member coach, directed the Ames Town and Country Kiwanis Club’s Cy-Hawk Showdown. Their shirts were traded after the Iowa State-Iowa football game. The club held a two-week event to raise funds for the Ames Miracle League Field and Playground. More than $5,000 was pledged by members during the event. All funds are to assist in the construction of this project. The project is an all-inclusive playground to be followed by a custom ball field with rubberized turf that will be accessible by wheelchair and other accessibility devices. It will allow competitive play by our children and adults with other abilities. It will fulfill a need for the citizens of Ames.
